My name is LeAnne Bye, wife of Terry and mother of Glen and Evan.
This is an attempt at my new blog. I am starting this blog to get a 5K run published on the internet that is very dear to my heart. My son Glen "Bubba" Bye was killed tragically on August 4, 2010 in an auto accident. The 5K is a way to raise funds to keep his memory alive. The funds are divided into the Glen Bye Memorial Scholarship and to Zimmerman High Baseball. Baseball was one if his passions. This years 5K will be held on April 28, 2012 at the Zimmerman High School in Zimmerman, MN. I will attach a link for more information on the registration to this blog.
Last year our goal for the event was 250 and we busted that goal wide open and were surprised when our final count was 512. We were so excited!! We were able to give 15 laptop computer scholarships to Glen's classmates in his name. It moved me so much at the turnout of the event. We are aiming a little higher this year and have set our goal at 750. (with hopes to blow that out of the water also) Please join us and bring along friends and family to be a part of this years race.
On a personal note, I didn't realize how difficult this blog would be. I miss my son so so much. I've been asked to write a blog a long time ago and just couldn't bear the thought of doing it. Well I guess I'll give it a whirl. I will be adding photos of the the 5K, as well as of my family. I want this to be a tribute to how strong my family is also. Evan is Glen's brother and I am very proud of how he has handled himself through the loss of his brother. I will post updates on the 5K, as well as what is going on in our life.
